Bond is a combined of different materials to hold the abrasives. Generally speaking, there are four main types: resin bond, vitrified bond, metal bond and electroplated bond.
1. Resin code: B
Usually using phenolic resin, polyamide resin, which make the wheel acquire well self-sharpness, heatless, high grinding efficiency and wide application range.
2. Vitrified code: V
It is made from vitrified material, with good wear resistance, self-sharpness and suitable for high precision grinding and high efficient grinding of common material and special material.
3. Metal code: M
Sintered with powder of copper, stanum, silver, cobalt and mill etc, having strong combination, well wear resistance and long life with bearing larger burthen.
4. Electroplated code: Me
Abrasive is covered on substrate by electroplating to make various complex tools, such as amending tools, grinding plates and etc. It has strong grinding ability and high precision.
Each bond has its advantages and disadvantages. Resin bonds are the most common and are also the most flexible. It can provide a good balance between form holding and wheel breakdown. Metal bond tends to be much harder, making in- process dressing more difficult, and are best used in profiling operations as they provide the best wheel shape retention. Vitrified bonds can be a lot softer and can lose wheel shape much easier, though this type of bond is the easiest to dress both in and out of process. Electroplated bonds are the cheapest, but its life is much shorter. Please choose the wheels according to your conditions.
